Managing Life Style and Regimens through Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a science
that deals with how to lead a healthy and happy life. It believes in
maintaining harmony in the health and environment and achieve overall
well-being of an individual. We all know changes in the food, place, seasons
and daily habits, create disturbances the health. Ayurveda, observes all these
disturbances keenly and advises changes to be adopted in our lifestyle.
We can come over the disturbances by simple lifestyle changes or adapting to specific food and regimens as prescribed by Ayurveda. To simply put, it is like wearing warm woollen clothes in winter and thin cotton cloths in summer, always carry an umbrella in the rainy season to protect us from the effect of the environment on our health
In addition to external changes and the effects on our health, Ayurveda clearly explains how our bodies are affected internally.
Vata, Pitta and Kapha are known as building blocks of our body. Doshas are not physical entities, but functional units with a specific function inside the human body. Doshas in their normal state have no disease but they tend to cause disease in the body when they become vitiate. Authoritative Ayurvedic treatises describe how the quantity and quality of these three doshas fluctuate in the body according to the seasons, time of day, diet, and several other factors. Everything we eat, do, think and behave can affect the Doshas and the Dhatus in our bodies. They determine conditions of growth, ageing, health and disease. Ayurveda advises us to adapt or change our lifestyle and food regimens to maintain the equilibrium of doshas and thus maintain balanced health.
