Emotional Strength and Stress

Image
When you get stressed or get panicked about anything, the body’s abilities to cope reduces. It causes your body to produce greater levels of stress hormones called ‘Cortisol’ to boost immunity and reduce inflammation. Greater levels of cortisol in the blood opens the door for more inflammation. During stress, the body’s lymphocytes (type of WBC) which help to fight the infection gets reduced. The lower the lymphocyte level, the more risk you are for the viruses. High stress levels can also cause depression and anxiety, again leading to higher levels of inflammation. In the long-term, sustained, high levels of inflammation point to an overworked, over-tired immune system can’t properly protect the body. Yoga and meditation are good means of calming the mind and boosting the immunity. Medication reduces the TPS (Thought Per Second) which in turn reduces the stress by conserving the energy towards the brain cells and also helps reducing the release of stress hormones cortisol. Hygiene and Personal Care: Part 1 - Prevention of the Pandemic Coronavirus

Image
Covid-19 is a respiratory illness caused by a new virus. It was first reported in December 2019 in Wuhan City, China. Coronavirus (cov) is a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe respiratory diseases. The virus spreads from person to person, but good hygiene practices can prevent infection spread. Common signs of infection are respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, body ache, fatigue, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. Hygiene and Personal Care Immunity power decreases with age and it will be under development for younger ones. Hence both elderly and young are very vulnerable for viral attacks. Also chronic disorders like diabetes, heart problems are generally immuno-compromised individuals. Hence taking the following precautions will help avoiding coming into contact with the virus. U...

Medical Care and our Well-being... Myths and Facts!!

Image
It might surprise you to know that about 60% of our today’s health and well-being has nothing to do with the medical care we receive. It’s directly connected to behavioural, environmental and social factors – everything from access to information, media, public transportation to the availability of healthy food in your neighbourhood, association influence, work-life balance, etc. among many other factors. It is as small as lack of our attention and time given to our kids contributing to their emotional imbalance, to various stresses that we undergo daily that has a direct effect on our hormonal imbalances. Only about 20% of our health status is attributable to health access to medical care, while another 20% is tied to genetics, which is nothing but an imbedded pattern that we have been following from our parents. This means that lifestyle factors and so-called social determinants have an incredibly important impact on a healthy lifestyle. At WELLBEEING Integrated Lifest...

Detox your Body

Image
One of the best methods to maintain good health is to remove toxin from the body at frequent intervals. There are numerous ways to detox. Different methods are used to detox your body in different systems: 5 fold detox ( panchakarma ) in Ayurveda, Food and diet detox therapy in Naturopathy. One of the most simple and faster ways is to follow a simple diet and include vegetables in your diet that will help to eliminate the toxins. Intermittent fasting is another way to detox your body. Many of these systems were always practised as a way of life in our past. If our body’s detoxification mechanism is not up to the mark, then waste will start building up in the body.Lets understand this with a very simple example: What happens when the trash collector’s refuse to collect wastes every day? All the roads and streets will be filled with garbage. The bad odour starts to emanate resulting into a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other animals. This puts the health o...

Man-Made Diseases

Image
We live in an environment that differs in many vital respects from the environments in which our ancestors lived and to which they became more or much less well adapted. We live in large, culturally diverse, and socio-economically stratified communities of genetically unrelated individuals; we eat different foods; we are exposed to exclusive sets of pathogens and toxins, and we have different physical activity patterns than our ancestors did. These culturally constructed or man-made environmental changes have resulted in an epidemiologic transition. As deaths from famine and infectious diseases decreased, and life expectancy increased, the burden of disease has shifted to chronic, noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease, and stroke.  These diseases, which are often referred to as Western diseases, are more appropriately thought of as man-made diseases. Changes in diet particularly increase in the consumption of sucrose, high fructose corn syrup,...

Conquering the Evil

Reverse Diabetes with Integrative Medicine  Diabetes is a systemic disorder with many layers of dysfunction, yet treatment is often focused on lowering the blood sugar levels, but that should not be the only goal. The root cause being insulin resistance, the goal should also be to normalize the body’s ability to respond to insulin again by healing the cellular wall and allowing the system to balance itself again. Correcting and reversing the insulin resistance will enable the body to utilise the sugar in the food and reverse the progression of complications and organ failures. Image courtesy: Pharmacy Times According to research by the New England Journal of Medicine, the use of intensive glucose-lowering therapy increased 5-year mortality as compared to the standard therapy. Another common medication is statins and their effect on diabetes. In a research study, 26,000 healthy people were given statins to prevent heart disease, and it resulted in 87% incr...

Integrative Medicine System

A Breakthrough Approach  Modern medicine has not been able to stop the spread of chronic diseases and health issues such as obesity, nonalcoholic fatty liver, diabetes, menstrual irregularities, reproductive and fertility defects, asthma, food allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney disease, cancer, autoimmune or immune intolerances, autism and many others. According to a published article in The Care Group PC “Conventional medicine works with a disease-drug model. The patient comes in with a complaint and a diagnosis is established. Then, the diagnosis is cross-checked with the list of medications used to treat that disorder. Most times, the medication treats the symptom and doesn’t address the root cause of the issue.” Therefore, if you think you need medication for every ailment and that every medication on the market is also going to disable you, the answer is No. Should you do your homework before you take a prescription drug? At Wellbeeing, we fir...
